Saint Pierre Fourier (catholic saint, priest)

Saint Pierre Fourier (1565–1640) was a tireless priest from Lorraine who served as parish priest of Mattaincourt for over forty years. Faced with a parish marked by poverty, religious divisions, and the devastating effects of the Thirty Years' War, he carried out remarkable pastoral and social work. He combined his ministry with major projects: reforming the Canons Regular, founding the Congregation of Notre Dame for the free education of girls, and developing a structured classroom-based teaching system. He also innovated on a social level: he created a soup kitchen, a secular mutual aid system, an interest-free loan fund for artisans, and concrete health measures during the plague of 1631. He wanted to be “all things to all people,” defining himself as a pastor, guide, doctor, and father to his people.

His educational work, marked by innovative and inclusive teaching methods (welcoming Protestant students), left a lasting mark on the history of education. He introduced organization by level, the use of the same textbook for all, and the invention of the blackboard. His foundation, in collaboration with Alix Le Clerc, officially took the name of the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1628. Canonized, Pierre Fourier is today considered a model of active charity, tolerance, and educational reform. His motto, taken from Saint Ambrose – “Obesse nemini, omnibus prodesse” (“Harm no one, be useful to all”) – sums up the spirit of his commitment.

Several schools, churches, and monuments  throughout Europe perpetuate his memory.

I made this statue as a gift for a group of young Catholics under the patronage of Saint Pierre Fourier, of which I was a member, and as I have spent quite a long time on it, I figured out, it would be best to share it with everyone, in case someone else may want the model.

I based my model on the statue from the basilica of Saint Nicolas (Saint-Nicolas-de-Port) that I scanned using polycam, then, I heavily edited the raw model using blender to get this model (which is not the first version)

As for the painting, first used smooth resin into my 3d print, then some spray paint for the base coat, and used markers for the rest (just made basecoat + highlighting, both using markers), and the result is surprisingly good (I bought both AK real color marker and playmarkers, and they are really good, real color marker are easier to use as they behave as markers, while playmarkers are more like “brush with an ink tank”, but only playmarkers have flesh color).

Then make sure you varnish the statue (I use a varnish spray can) so that the paint doesn't chip when it is handled.
