Description

For storing and organizing dried goods in my pantry glass jars from the dollar store are by far the most affordable option when buying dozens of them.
Dollarama and Dollar Tree have almost identical glass jars, except:
- Dollar Tree jars are much cheaper, half as much as the Dollarama jars for larger sizes
- Dollar Tree jar lids have very sharp edges instead of the embossed edges on the Dollarama jars
- The plastic ring with threads is often not securely attached to the metal part of the lid in the Dollar Tree jars
This model is a TPU ring that fits over the sharp rim of the Dollar Tree glass food storage jars, to keep the plastic and metal parts together and most importantly, to keep your fingers safe from the sharp, unfinished metal edges.
These rings are friction fit and should hold quite snugly around the rim of the lid. Be careful when applying them - the channel that holds the lid is narrow and the edges are very thin, so it can require a bit of effort to get it aligned.
These rings should not interfere with the threads or the ability for the lids to screw down firmly.
Compatibility

These rings are designed for this style of glass food storage jar (purchased at Dollar Tree in Canada in 2024.)
The small ring is for a lid 84 mm external diameter, and thickness of about 1.7 mm. (330 ml jar)
The medium ring is for a lid 98 mm external diameter, and thickness of about 1.4 mm. (600 ml jar)
The large ring is for a lid 111 mm external diameter, and thickness of about 1.4 mm. (750 ml jar)
In measuring the lids I have, they are manufactured with fairly loose tolerances and there's a variance of close to 0.5 mm in the thickness of the edge depending on where I measured on the same lid. Printing in TPU will allow more flexibility for small variations, but I suggest you measure your lids before printing.
If you have purchased these specific jars at Dollar Tree and your lids have notably different dimensions please leave me a comment with the exterior diameter and thickness of the lid edge and I will upload additional sizes.
Filament
This model is designed to be printed in TPU. I've tested my print profile with 95A and 64D hardness TPU. Both print well, though I think I prefer the 64D TPU, which is harder than 95A, and feels more secure.
Dry your filament and clean your build plate before printing. This model has very thin walls and minimal area that is in contact with the build plate. If you have blobs or a lot of stringing it may impact fit or be difficult to clean up on such a small area.
