Letting children cut vegetables alone with a sharp knife while you stand at the stove or prepare other recipe steps?

With this TPU wearable (for AMS), even small children can help out well. The model is not only a cut protector for fingers but also helps to internalize the correct hand posture for the claw grip, so that transitioning to cutting without assistance becomes easier later. Intuitively, one (and especially children) grips with the thumb opposite the other fingers to hold the vegetable firmly. This creates the risk of cutting one's thumb, even if one pays attention to the other fingers

The printed object is placed on the first segment of the thumb of the “holding hand”, and the guard is only correctly positioned in front of the other fingers when the thumb is properly hidden under the other fingers. Otherwise, the guard is in the way and obstructs or prevents cutting. Advanced users support themselves with their thumb on the vegetable and slowly guide the other fingers, to quickly cut uniformly thick slices or cubes. To enable this movement as well, the object is designed to be flexible in this direction

Model prints without supports on the side

Can be mirrored for left-handers to fit the right hand

Also prints well with 0.28mm layer height (extra draft)
