Discovered in the flooded underchambers of the Iron Swamp Vaults, Vault Hopper Unit-3C—code-named Croakulus—was one of the last surviving reconnaissance models created by the Pre-Fall Engineers. Designed to traverse chemically unstable wetlands and shadow-laced ruins, Croakulus was more than just a scout; it was a living archive.
Each articulated digit acted as a sensor array, and its ocular disks recorded terabytes of forgotten data in a format now long obsolete. The gears embedded in its thorax once pulsed with a synthetic rhythm said to mimic the heartbeat of its creators.
When unearthed, Croakulus was dormant—but its joints still flexed as if remembering its last leap. Some say if left in moonlight, it twitches... like it’s waiting for the next mission that never came.
