Description

I have created a glue on horseshoe designed to replace nail in shoes and allow horse feet to heal. I have two options so far: A solid TPU shoe, and one with a slot to insert a real metal shoe (Slim style)

My sisters have horses and are currently trying out how well these hold up, updates will be posted as I have more feedback. I would also greatly welcome any feedback from my horse people!

We are trying various types of glue to see which holds up best!

Options for sizes 00, 0, and 1. Increasing by 5% should be about right to further sizing as needed, Z height should remain about the same.

Currently 80% infill us being used.

Great 3D model. I scaled it down by 90% to fit my Shetland pony's hoof. It fits perfectly!

I have tried to print shoes foe my horse in the past and unfortunately struggled with material choice. The glue tabs had way too much flex in them when printed in 95A TPU from BambuLab. Have you had any such issues?

I have not used TPU from Bambu lab specifically, but I am using 95. I did notice that the tabs I made seem to be a bit long, so I will shorten them when I get a chance, but I don’t feel like they are too flexible. I am currently struggling with what adhesive to use!

I use generic superglue with great success! I'm not even sure if the liquid vs gel makes a difference, they both work great. Just use a bit of sandpaper to make sure the surface is mostly clean and smooth and stick it right on. My problem is that the tabs stretch very long and they don't bounce back like rubber does. So far that's really what's holding me back.

TPU adhesive fitting printed recently? I wish the base plate had more profile at the bottom. could that be added somehow? and could the base plate and tabs be created and printed separately, I want to weld the tabs myself with hot air as is usual with Goodsmith and co. can anyone help me with that?

have you tried it? what kind of glue you use? How long did they last? I'll measure my hooves next week. I need 125x125 and 125x145 but I still have to check on monday. I bought a 3D printer today just because of glue on shoes , cant nail anymore

Hello, I am working on a TPU horse shoe myself for my wife I have printed yours and it's really great ! I can't understand how did you make the roller at the front of the shoe.

thank you! I believe I used an intersect tool. I started with a large square, used a similar sized circle to cut it in half, and used that square with a circles shape cut out of it to cut a curve on the shoe. does that make sense? haha

Kind of ahaha, I tried to make the same roller as yours using a plan to cut the front of the shoe at an angle then fillet the edge on fusion360 but it's not as perfect as yours ! I'll try your way with cirlce shape to cut the curve. Also on mine I added more groove to add grip in mud and it seems to work well. I can send a picture if necessary

Unfortunately, the tabs inside did not print cleanly for me I'm still a beginner with tpu 95a I would be grateful for any tips

when printing with tpu it is most important that the filament is dried first, also printing slowly is important, you can’t rush TPU. if you have not dried it using a filament dryer or something similar, that is probably your issue
