Description

Here is my first revision of some rear 5x7 speaker adapters for a BMW e36 Convertible

Note they are not a perfect fit and I'm very new to 3d Design/CAD etc

To install remove existing speakers and housing, keep the screws and use them in these prints

Couple things to note below

  • I used some cheap Pyle 5x7s for test fit so not sure if it will be compatible with other brands but I do intend to change them after dailying them for a while, if you happen to print this and they work with your specific brand please let me know
  • It is an extremely tight fit and the rear cards are hard to put back on but they do fit
  • I currently only have 2 screws holding the actual speaker in place (All 4 panel screws fit fine) but you could get them all in with some small nuts and bolts if needed but the door card does a fair bit to secure it I also slipped the side closest to the boot/Trunk under the rubber panel cover (its pretty thin) to add a slight bit more security
  • You may need to dremel out the existing speaker grills, I had already done mine previously so not 100% sure if its required
  • Posting this on makerworld, tinkercad is here though for anyone who wants to improve on https://www.tinkercad.com/things/ftrnArQzTY2-draft-e36-5x7-convertible-rear-speaker-adapter-left?sharecode=pLxH4s1CQ4qNFTu-7UyRZ77wnTD6c29lI_h2vDgrhlw
  • Even though they are cheap Pyle speakers they are much better than the cheap 13cm Pioneer speakers I had in previously but obviously your mileage may vary depending on your existing set up but it has noticeable more bass
