This shower squeegee was specifically designed for 3D printing with flexible filament (TPU) and is a completely original design. Its unique feature is an integrated bending mechanism between the handle and the rubber blade holder. This allows the rubber blade to automatically adjust to the angle of the surface during wiping, without the user having to guide the squeegee perfectly straight
This significantly simplifies operation and noticeably reduces the need for bending over. Depending on body height and shower setup, it is possible to clean the entire surface without having to bend down significantly
The design consists of two main components:
- Handle piece
- Blade holder, into which a replaceable, also 3D-printable rubber blade is inserted
Both parts are connected with a simple pin (e.g., a nail or wire with 1.5–2 mm diameter). Additionally, a torsion spring is provided which ensures the return force of the joint. In initial tests, a torsion spring was taken from a commercially available hair clip and used; however, it was too weak. Users should choose a suitable spring themselves and test what works well for their application
Assembly is simple:
- The two components are placed together.
- The ends of the torsion spring are threaded into the designated openings.
- Using pliers, carefully position the spring so that the pin can be guided through both components and through the center of the spring.
- Finally, the rubber blade is inserted into the holder.
