Description

Introducing the One-Stop Shop for Ammo Storage, or Batteries if so desired.  There's a lot of options out there for 9mm, .40, even .45.  Can you find a decent option for Your special snowflake FBI grade 5.7?  10mm?  Your hunting rifle's .270? Your M14's .308?  Your WW1 ere Swiss K31 7.5x55mm rounds?  Want to take a bunch of 18650s, or 18350 batteries?

This box should do it.  Custom calibers or batteries are a go.

Look up or measure the dimensions of your ammo and enter them into the parameters here on MakerWorld to craft your custom box for your custom ammo.  You can print the small test block just to be sure your dimensions will work, and then print the full box.  The boxes are all stackable with an interlocking pattern, though this will only work with clones of the same box in most cases.

Do you want to carry 10 rounds of high powered, long range rounds?  Do you want to carry a hundred 9mm?  Do you want to carry 25 9mm self defense?

This box should do that too. Custom count, width and depth is a go.

Enter the width count and depth count for your custom sized boxes, whether you need a large pack for the range bag, or a narrow, low count box for the hunting pack your putting 20 miles in tomorrow.

And does it need to be watertight?

This box can also do that.  Watertight is a go.

Your hunting rounds might appreciate some water resistant storage during a long hike through a light rain to your carefully planned spot on the map.  So print the TPU gasket too.  Or don't, it's up to you and what you need.

To build a custom box, use the parametric editor above, enter the specs of the round or battery you need to store, and download.  Once open in your Bambu Slicer, right click on the mesh and split into objects, then break up as you choose.  I would recommend printing the test block first, just to be sure you like the tolerances and didn't get a measurement wrong somewhere.  You can also add your name and caliber to the separate faceplate with the Bambu Slicer and print on.  Then slice and print away!

Ideally, this should cover whatever centerfire ammunition you need to store, wet or dry.  Feel free to publish print profiles of various and unique ammos you need the case for.  Feel free to comment, critique and request changes.

Not sure what I am doing wrong but This is what opens up in Fusion. It wasn't doing that before. I thought that I might have screwed something up so I downloaded it again. Do you have any suggestions? I have made several of these with different cal. and counts and they are totally awesome. You obviously put in a lot of work in this.

Yeah man, go to that file on MakerWorld, on a PC, and there's a customize button where you can plug all of those dimensions in.

I wanted one for 38 ammo for my J Frame S&W but I wanted it to handle speed loaders. I don't like taking the time to load rounds one at a time on my range clock. I took ogre56's 38 Special 5 Shot Speed Loader Tray J-Frame from here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1369876-38-special-5-shot-speed-loader-tray-j-frame#profileId-1416120 and used your parametric tool to make one for 38 spl that would be big enough to drop the loader tray into. Turned out to be 8x17 rounds. A little TinkerCAD magic and I ended up with the final product. I use darioosz's .38 special 5 shot Revolver speedloader from here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1639624-38-special-5-shot-revolver-speedloader#profileId-1732331 It's 100% printed, no extra screws needed, and it's slim enough to work well with my 642. The box holds 50 rounds (the most I try and shoot anything per range visit) arranged for easy for range personnel check, and easy to grab with the speed loaders. Very nice job sir!

I feel like I should have been able to rate your project but that option isn't presented to me when I make a comment. Should I have uploaded this as a remix? Would that let me give you five stars? Does that credit do anything for you? I'm not familiar with all the MakerWorld nuances of boosts and stars etc.

(Edit to add major redo): The more I looked at it, the more I wasn't happy with the wasted space, then I saw it. Treat each speed loader like an individual round. The result - more rounds in less space with the speed loader included!

This is an awesome design. It is a very tight fit, in a good way since it's meant to be watertight. I won't dock a star, but my suggestion would be to modify the design to allow for a better grip of the insert. Trying to open this, at least for me, is pretty difficult while making sure my rounds don't go scattering when I pull open the case. Great work!

I rock climb, and while I don't feel like I have incredible grip strength, it's probably higher than average lol. It's a good callout. What you can do though is slightly trim the little catches on the side of the tray so they don't fight as much on the way out. I'm afraid if I shrink them much more, the weight of the ammo will open the box on its own more commonly.

That's a valid point, thank you. I'll try filing it down a little at a time until it feels good for my weak hands, LOL.

I tried really hard not to say weak lol. For real though, I climb a lot.

Hello, when I try to make a custom model (I would like to have a 15 rounds 9mm box), the model doesn't really match... (I only change "round depth" from 10 to 3). The result is as shown in the image... May you help me ?

That might be too small, causing the pattern on the top to collide.

Oh you were right ! It needs at least 4 rows. But now... I just have one piece and I can't separate them to print them...? Sorry for all these questions... :-|

Yeah so in the slicer, right click and select split to objects.

I reload and have bee working on getting a configurable ammo box. Found one box that comes close, but is by no means straight forward. YOURS is PERFECT. Simply enter the data I already have and bam... an ammo box is ready to be filled!

I added some fuzzy skin to improve grip and had to cut the small spheres that prevent it so slide off the outer base. Not ot works perfectly.

Did you do the oring? If the oring is too thick, it can be a lot.

i havent done the oring yet but i think i shall reprint but make the outer box slightly bigger on the width so it has more room to slide the. ill look into doing the oring

Might be a printer tolerance issue. Without the oring, my boxes slide in/out really well.

I printed the 9mm base version as a starting point to see what this model is like, and for the most part I really like it! I do have some suggestions, though. First, I have to agree with others that the case is extremely hard to get open, especially on the first try. I fought with it for a good 5 minutes the first time, and I don't have weak hands. Additional grip texture at the End of the case would help, I think, as would relieving the area in front of the catch groove in the case so that the locking nub just has to clear a single bump rather than get dragged across 4-5mm of tight space. another thing I would like to request would be the ability to add space between rounds. The design as-is works fine for rimless ammo like 9mm, but doesn't do well for rimmed cases like .357/.38 Sp., etc. It would be nice to be able to set both case hole diameter and case spacing to account for that and to make it easier for people with mobility issues to extract rounds no matter the calibre.

Valid feedback. I'll trim the retention nubs slightly if it feels like too much depending on the printer calibration or they break in. The spacing between bullets is a good suggestion though.

A couple of light swipes with a fingernail file after I got the case open were enough to tune the catch, but that first time opening also left streaks of tray plastic inside the cover, so a few microns has already been shaved off. I expect you could take 5 hundredths of a mm off and make a surprisingly big difference.
