Description

This is a bicycle spoke threading tool based on the Cyclo Tools spoke thread roilling head (available on amazon). The head is essential to the operation, but the body also costs upward of 80€, so I'd rather quickly design one, as it does not perform a complex job.

Necessairy materials:

  • a) M5x30 Hex Bolt
  • b) Cyclo Tools Thread Roller (14 gauge = 2mm)
  • c) 10mm Rod or Tube
  • d) M3 Countersunk bolt
  • e) M5x40 Cylinder Head Bolt

The hole in the part for the (a) M5 bolt and the rod/tube for the (d) M3 bolt must be tapped.

The (a) M5 bolt serves to suppress lateral movement and should not be tightened too much (which is why the included files contain a smaller knob). To avoid the spokes rotation, hold the end with a bent spoke or flat stock with a hole (as seen in the pictures).

PSA: always apply a drop of cutting oil for each spoke. The body is designed with a drip “tray” :)
