Tai Chi, an ancient Chinese philosophical concept, elucidates the process by which the cosmos originated from Wuji, through Tai Chi, and ultimately gave birth to all phenomena.Within this framework, Tai Chi represents the state before the heaven and earth were separated and before chaos differentiated into Yin and Yang.In the Great Commentary of the I Ching: "Therefore, the I Ching contains Tai Chi, which gave birth to the Two Forces."The Two Forces are the Yin and Yang aspects of Tai Chi. "Tai Chi" is a fundamental concept in the study of I Ching, first appearing in the "Great Commentary, Part I" of the Book of Changes: "The I Ching contains Tai Chi, which gave birth to the Two Forces; the Two Forces gave birth to the Four Phenomena; the Four Phenomena gave birth to the Eight Trigrams; the Eight Trigrams determine good and ill fortune; and good and ill fortune give rise to great endeavors."

It can be divided or combined; nothingness gives birth to existence; existence gives birth to one; one gives birth to two; two gives birth to three; and three gives birth to all things.
