Description

Boost Me (for free)

If you like this project, a boost means a lot — it helps me keep sharing more cool designs 😊

This is a modular, clean-looking multi-spool holder designed to keep multiple filaments neatly organized, ready to use, and mechanically stable.

It supports 1 to 5 spools (and beyond) by simply extending the same module. The geometry keeps spools securely seated, eliminating the issue where a printer can accidentally pull a spool off its holder due to minor tangles.

Why this is especially useful for Bambu users without AMS

If you’re running a Bambu X1 / P1 or H2 series printer without an AMS, this is a huge quality-of-life upgrade:

  • Print a 4-spool version (X1 / P1) or 5-spool version (H2)
  • Place it on top of the printer
  • Add a 4-to-1 PTFE splitter
  • Run one PTFE tube to each spool

The result: multiple filaments pre-loaded, neatly organized, and instantly swappable, instead of constantly handling a single side-mounted spool.
This is not an AMS replacement — there’s no rewind system — but it’s miles better than having no multi-spool solution at all.

Easy printing — no tinkering required

This model now includes fully prepared 3MF “click-to-print” profiles for versions:

  • 1 spool
  • 2 spools
  • 3 spools
  • 4 spools
  • 5 spools

Each profile contains:

  • The correct number of parts
  • Proper orientation
  • Carefully tuned print settings
  • No supports required

Just choose how many spools you want, hit print, and you’re done.

Design notes

  • Modular: build 1, 2, 3, 4, 5+ spools using the same system
  • Elegant, compact layout — when assembled for 5 spools, it sits flush with an IKEA Lack enclosure
  • Originally designed for Prusa setups in Lack enclosures, where it proved reliable and stable over long-term use

Bearings & assembly

Each spool uses 4× 625ZZ bearings:

  • 1 spool → 4 bearings
  • 2 spools → 8 bearings
  • 3 spools → 12 bearings
  • 4 spools → 16 bearings
  • 5 spools → 20 bearings

Base connectors should be glued with superglue to prevent separation over time.
