Description

This countertop trash / compost bin uses the common polybags found in produce section of supermarket (US).

Features:

  • Large Opening
  • Drip-proof (front edge hangs over the sink)
  • Repurpose produce polybags
  • Easy to clean

Print Instruction:

  • You'll need two 3x20mm stainless steel dowel pins  Do not 3D print the dowels, they won't last long under daily usage.
  • Use PETG only (I used Bambu PETG HF).
  • Use 0.6 mm nozzle only.
  • The hinges are fraction fit. Before printing the design, print the 1st plate name “Hinge fitting test” to see if the hinge works properly with your PETG. The dowel should be very tight at two ends while the lid's hinge should move freely.

Assembly instruction:

  • Align lid's hinges with the body's hinges in closed position.
  • Insert the 3x20mm dowel all the way into the hinges. It needs a bit of force to push the dowel in.

Usage:

  1. Fold the top edge of polybag over the Bag Holder (see photo)
  2. Insert the polybag with Bag Holder into the bin.
  3. Push down the bottom of polybag so the top of the polybag is wrapped around the Bag Holder.

Tip:

  • Position Bag Holder's wall with a hole at the back side of the bin.
  • Double bag if polybags are thin like composable ones from my local store.

Monetization:

Makerworld's point system is great for the community, but it does not compensate the time for developing project sufficiently. Some of my designs are free, and some are not. Personally, I avoid subscription whenever I can. So I'm going with a Remuneration model, pay based on usefulness of the design. Meaning, pay me only if you find the design is useful to you, an honor system. This is not a commercial license.

For this design, I'm asking for $3 USD minimum via Buy Me A Coffee. Thank you for the support.
