This 3D printed prop grenade was designed for my son as a fun, Soviet-style cosplay piece — complete with a rounded spoon that pops off when the pin is pulled!
Instead of using a spring (and spending all afternoon crawling around looking for it...), I went with 4x 10mm x 2mm magnets, cleverly placed with opposing poles. It’s satisfying and repeatable — and safer for carpet.
Functionality:
- If you hold the spoon and pull the pin gently, it stays close.
- If you grip the body and give the pin a quick tug, the spoon pops off dramatically.
Assembly Instructions:
- Glue the neck into the main body.
- Insert the magnets into the neck and spoon — make sure they’re oriented to repel each other.
- The pin is a snug fit by design, so depending on your printer, a little filing may be needed for a smooth pull.
Printing Notes:
- Designed for easy FDM printing with standard 0.4mm nozzle.
No supports required for body
Great for cosplay, display, or just a fun desk toy. It’s not a real grenade (obviously), just a tactile prop with satisfying action.
