Toyota Supra (JZA80 – MKIV) Kits

Introduction
With my ever-expanding collection of layered car model prints that I add to on a weekly basis I have had a project that I have been working on for the last several months, slowly, in the background. Ever since I got my first 3D printer I always wanted to make an actual scale model, similar to what I used to build from the Tamiya kits in 1:24 scale. Seeing that I have owned my personal real-life supra for 21 years this year I felt that the JZA80 MKIV supra was a natural first choice.
Over the last several months I have spent countless hours scanning, meshing, altering various body part configurations to my original 3D scan of the scaled Supra. The intent was to cover the most common modifications a lot of Supra guys (and Gals) make to their real-life Supras. No, I don’t have every variation covered, but I tried my best to cover the basics.
After approximately 160 print hours (and design hours that likely double that.. but who’s keeping track??) I am think I am finally ready for this model to make it’s debut for people to enjoy! It is not perfect, but I spent quite a bit of time test printing, tweaking, and reprinting to get it as good as I can.

At the time of the original roll-out, you will find 16 different variations (excluding wheel choices) of different models to print so you can really pick the variation the speaks to you! I also have plans to continue expanding the line-up, both with other body modifications as well as new wheels choices.
As a part of the initial roll-out of the 16 print profiles, you will find additional, “special” profile: a 3-color AMS print (really only suitable for H2D users due to the amount of Poop/time it takes!).
Please note, the intent of this model was to allow people to quickly (relatively speaking) and easily print a fairly detailed version of the Toyota Supra model without having to split the body, glue it together, etc. The model does not have individual parts for lights and windows, etc and works best in matte colors.
Print Profile Overview
Due to the high number of variations, I figured it would be helpful to provide a reference document for which model is included in which print profile. The size 100% scale size of the finished print is approximately 150mm (5.9in) length x 60mm (2.36in) width and 40mm (1.57 in) height. This is slightly smaller than a standard 1:24 scale size. Please keep in mind that these profiles are VERY easily scalable (tested up to 200%) so if you need to make a larger model, just scale all the parts the same.
Each of the print profile below features a Turbo Supra with it’s iconic Front Mount Intercooler and expends on the factory body with different combinations of wings, front lips, side skirts and hoods!
I intend to keep the numbering/naming of each profile consistent, and will add to this list as I generate new models. Please see below for a breakdown of what modifications are a part of what print profile:

Assembly

The assembly process is very straightforward with only a couple of things to look out for. The print profile includes a few things: The body of the car (made in one-piece print for a no-seam/glue model), 4 tires (if you care to pay attention to the detail there are 2 left and 2 right tires), default wheels (CCW classics in single color) and exhaust.
Start by carefully removing the supports. Most should come off just fine, but at times I found myself using a pick to get to the ones inside of wheel wells. I then recommend using a razor blade (carefully) to remove any support material build-up in the wheel wells and back of model, particularly at the bottom of the rear bumper, top of the license plate cutout, and under the spoiler.

The most important part is to slightly cut down the wheel spindles area that droops down at the support. This will ensure that you don’t have too hard of a time pushing on the wheels (and risk breaking the wheel and/or spindle). I recommend shaving it down a little, and testing the wheel, and shaving again if needed in a couple of passes. The wheels should be firm to press on, but not feel like you will break the spindle. Due to various filament properties I have settled on wheel cutout size that should work in any filament, but may take a little more shaving for a good, snug fit.

Once you have shaved the spindle down, press the tires onto the wheels, and install the wheels to the spindles. Pro – Tip : there is a 45 degree notch in the wheel for some up-right printing, make sure this notch is facing towards the top of the wheel well so you can see it, also make sure to properly align all wheels in the same orientation.

With the wheels installed, proceed to install the exhaust. The exhaust SHOULD just press in and stay in place with a nice snug fit, but you may need to dab a drop of glue as a precaution to keep it in place.

You’re all done! Enjoy the model!
Please also note, a select few of these smaller models are now available in a 200% scale !
