Proportional divider - artist tool
A proportional divider is a tool used by artists, architects, and drafters to measure and transfer proportions accurately between a reference image and a drawing.
The tool allows users to measure a specific part of a reference image with one end and then transfer that measurement to the drawing with the other end, ensuring accurate proportions. This tool is especially useful for maintaining consistency in scale when working on complex drawings, such as portraits or architectural plans.
Proportional dividers can also be used to divide lines and circles into equal parts, solve measurement problems, and adjust drawings to different scales.

The scale can be set by changing the screw position to different holes.
The model includes 3d printed clips but I recommend the use of a M4x8 or 10 mm screw for long term reliability.
The middle clip works well for me with some added padding to ease rotation and opening of the arms for changing scales.
I tested the tool by drawing the sketch you see in the pictures, and I feel the screw is more reliable than any printed clip.
Also, for reliable tips, I've included 3d printed supports. Let the model to completely cool down and break by hand the supports
