🧠 Behind the Design (For Makers & Moderators)
While this might look like a simple flat plate, this is a fully parametric OpenSCAD tool designed with strict engineering tolerances. Instead of a static STL, the code uses dynamic arrays and hull/minkowski transformations to perfectly replicate the universal Gridfinity standard. This ensures that any generated size (from a 1x1 up to a massive 30x30 plate) maintains the exact 42mm grid units, chamfer angles, and interlocking distances required for seamless modular organization.
🛠️ What can you customize?
This model gives you complete control to generate the perfect baseplate for your exact needs, right from the MakerWorld customizer.
- Custom Grid Size: Use the grid_units_x and grid_units_y sliders to define the exact width and depth of your baseplate, from a tiny 1x1 to a massive workshop-covering layout.
- Perfect Fit: This is ideal for creating baseplates that fit flawlessly inside IKEA Alex drawers, tool chests, or any custom shelf space you have.
- 100% Gridfinity Compatible: The generated baseplate perfectly adheres to the Gridfinity standard, ensuring all your existing and future bins will fit flawlessly.
- Seamless Tiling: Design multiple custom-sized plates that tile together perfectly to cover large or irregularly shaped work surfaces.
🖨️ Print Settings
Printing your custom baseplate is easy. All filaments should work and you can choose what infill fits the best based on strength, even 0% should work. No supports are needed obviously.
💡 Why did I make this model?
I wanted to make a model so I could choose what size plate I needed. For example in my Alex Drawer I need a 4x4 and 4x3 so this makes it easy to just make what I need. Because it's openscad everyone kan make what they want of it, so if you need for example a 10x7 and it fits your printer you can just make it!
❤️ Like my work?
