Description

Custom Paracord Drawstring Stop & End Beads (No-Spring, Snap-Grip Design)

This minimalist paracord drawstring system is a fully custom, spring-free solution designed for securing adjustable cords in garments—ideal for shorts, hoodies, and bags. The design was born out of necessity when the original drawstring and stopper were lost in the wash. Instead of replacing them with commercial options that rely on internal springs, this system leverages friction and mechanical grip for reliable hold and simple functionality.

Components

  • Drawstring Stopper:
A compact dual-hole stopper block that uses internal star-shaped "teeth" to bite and grip the paracord, holding it in place without the need for springs or moving parts. The oval shape allows for even tension and secure locking when the cords are pulled through.
  • End Bead:
A smooth, rounded cord-end bead designed to stay firmly in place once the paracord is passed through and heat-set. It provides a clean, finished look and prevent fraying or slipping through the stopper.

Use Instructions

  • Cut paracord at a 45° angle and singe the end lightly to help feed it through the stopper and beads with minimal resistance.
  • Once everything is in place, use a heat source to carefully melt and flatten the tips of the cord past the end beads, locking them in place.

Key Features

  • No mechanical parts – won’t fail or jam
  • Designed specifically for paracord 550 thickness
  • Clean and durable fit
  • Easy to install with basic tools (scissors and a lighter)
  • Ideal for DIY clothing repairs or customization

Used on the drawstring of my bathing suit. I did struggle to feed the paracord through the tiny holes but had good success snipping the outside jacket into a long point and trimming away the internal threads for about 1 cm. Tricky but doable!
