Description

AOE siege ram

Total of 150 parts, so be prepared to use a lot of glue. Originally, I made this model as a one-time gift for a friend. I wasn’t planning to release it. If I had, I would have modeled it with registration marks to help make the glueing easier.

Printing all the parts takes about 11 hours. Gluing everything together takes about 1–2 hours. But it turned out so good that I ended up sharing it.

I recommend using wood filament for the best look. Printing them vertically and lightly sanding in one direction gives the best wood texture. I used oak wood-filled filament for this project.

Metal panels should be printed with silk PLA, then sanded and detailed with an X-Acto knife for a battle-damaged look.

The wooden base can be any color you wish. I went with pink, as it was a request from a friend. Sand this too, in one direction, to make it look more like wood.

The ram part is attached with string, wrapped around the hook on the underside of the roof. I recommend using twine for this. I don’t have real instructions on how to wrap the string. I kinda just winged it, and it worked out.

The print file also comes with a completed view of the model to help with the build process.

Feel free to leave comments if you run into any trouble.

Lastly, sand everything to give it that battle-damaged look.
