A fast pouring funnel for five litre (5l) containers. The outside diameter of the container threads is approx 37mm and the pitch is 5mm. It screws directly to the screw thread on the container.

 

This model does not have the same thread profile as the container but it's been designed with a standard ISO thread of such a pitch and dimension that it engages easily and rotates smoothly. If you over-tighten it'll strip the threads off.

 

I designed this to transfer very dense molasses from a 25l container to a 5l container for use in cooking horse muffins. Using a regular funnel the molasses took forever to transfer as the funnel was narrow and wobbled precariously. A spill of very sticky molasses was a distinct possibility.

 

The funnel has a 90 degree angle and is 130mm across.

 

There are two air holes joining the interior and exterior of the funnel so it will empty with no “glugging”. Furthermore there is almost no constriction of the funnel exit so the funnel will empty rapidly.

 

There are some swirl vanes inside the funnel but as it already empties very rapidly these are probably ineffectual.

 

There is a traditional funnel plus additional profiles with:

  • A 25mm high lip to help prevent liquid being added from spilling over the edge
  • A 25mm lip but no vent holes
  • A 25mm lip but no vent holes or vanes
