Description
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (1886)
This haunting dual-faced sculpture immortalizes Robert Louis Stevenson’s literary classic as a rotating tale of duality. On one side, the calm, composed Dr. Jekyll studies a bubbling flask with measured intellect, while on the other, the savage Mr. Hyde claws forth from the same body—feral, twisted, and unhinged. Their coat literally splits between civility and chaos, a single garment torn by morality’s unraveling. Rendered in a sepia-toned, resin-castable sculptural style, the piece rotates to reveal the tragic cycle of transformation. This design masterfully captures the internal battle between restraint and rage, intelligence and impulse—a visual embodiment of Victorian horror’s most enduring metaphor.
