The Moai of Easter Island are enormous monolithic statues carved by the Rapa Nui people, who inhabited the island. These figures, representing human faces with stylized features, were erected between the 13th and 16th centuries on ceremonial platforms called ahu, to commemorate ancestors and important figures. The Moai, with their disproportionately large heads, heavy brows, and elongated noses, are an iconic symbol of the island and hold deep spiritual significance, watching over the villages and protecting their inhabitants
