Description

I wanted to enclose everything into a single unit, so I made this. This project provides a reliable and adjustable power source without breaking the bank. You can complete the entire project for as little as $50! Converting an ATX PSU allows you to create multiple voltage outputs, including a variable 0.5-30V output and stable 3.3V, 5V, and 12V rails. Additionally, there are USB outputs for devices requiring 5V power. This conversion not only recycles an older PSU but also offers a cost-effective alternative to commercial lab power supplies.

Materials List

Below is a list of parts needed, including quantities and links for purchase.

For a full step-by-step guide on how to make this project, please visit my detailed Instructables post. There, you'll find comprehensive instructions, tips, and detailed explanations to help you successfully complete your own lab power supply. Whether you're a seasoned maker or a beginner, the guide will walk you through each phase, from disassembling the PSU to wiring and final assembly. Easy project worked flawlessly. Very good instructions and I used an ATX power supply from 2008. High wattage output and the fan is almost silent. The only major change is that I used flush mount banana jacks so I had to make the holes wider. I love the on/off switch from AliExpress and I'm going to use it on future projects. Also, I had to make the Buck converter hole a bit larger as these are commodity products and are not all the same size.

Hi! I started to print the parts and the nameplate written parts are getting shallow. Would be possible by any chance to upload a part with taller letters? In this case it would be more cleary written. Thank you!

Simply take the old profile, case, and nameplates separately The lettering is higher there
