Description

Revised Model – I modified the model to address the bed adhesion issue reported by another user. The first layer should now match the size of the other layers.

This model is a dustbox designed for a deadbolt strike plate. When the contractor installed the deadbolt on the entry door, they did not cut the hole for the strike plate deep enough, preventing the deadbolt from fully engaging. I drilled out the hole, but could see into the cavity of the door frame. Unable to find a dustbox locally, I decided to design one myself. It fits snugly between the door frame and the strike plate, closing off the cavity, preventing dust from coming into or out the latch hole, and completing the installation nicely.

I enlarged the hole in my door frame so that this dustbox is a tight fit. The flange where it connects to the box is not very sturdy, so you need to be careful when removing it to avoid breaking the flange off. If this is a concern, you might want to increase the strength.

I printed it without support, using PLA on a textured build plate, and positioned the face directly on the plate.

I apologize for the picture. I forgot to take one before I reassembled everything!
