Description

Spares for repairing the front ‘sliding gear’ and arm on the cupholders on facelift 986 996. This gear and/or arm often breaks and is responsible for moving the cupholder faceplate out of the way when opening and closing.

Print in PETG or other strong + temperature resistant material. Print with at least 4-5 walls, go full solid if you like.

The parts are based on the original parts with some improvements and with the general shape derived from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5249292.

My improvements include an extra tooth like my original had, and increased lever arm length to match my originals. The thingiverse model gear lever arm between the holes was too short and didnt work for my unit. I also changed the small hole on the gear and matching hole on the lever to 2mm, as this allowed me to use an M2x8mm screw as the pivot, much stronger than the original plastic pivot that broke on mine. The lever arm also has thicker ends to make it stronger as well.

See below for videos on (dis)assembly

If these models help you repair your cupholder like they did mine, please consider to boost this model so others can find it and I get to buy some discounted filament to offset the numerous trial and error prints :D
