This diorama is a quiet, unsettling reflection of our times—where the line between life and presence has blurred into something hollow.
It tells the story of a soul long departed from the real world, not in death alone, but in distraction. Though the figure sits in a natural space—trees growing, birds watching—there is no connection to it. She is surrounded by life, yet participates in none of it. What should be a moment of stillness, peace, or contemplation is instead occupied by the glow of a device—a symbol of virtual immersion that endures even past the decay of the self.
This is not just a critique of screen addiction; it is a meditation on what we trade for constant connection: our attention, our environment, our time, and eventually, our presence. The forest doesn't mourn her. The ravens don’t speak. Nature, patient and indifferent, merely waits for us to look up.
The diorama poses a question rather than gives an answer:
What remains of us when we stop noticing the world around us?
It's a warning. A mirror. And perhaps, a eulogy.
