Vinyl Mirror U Wrap Installation Tool

My wife is wrapping her car and was struggling to wrap her mirrors. I saw these U-shaped tools on Amazon selling for $30-$50 and decided it would be simple to just design it and print it myself. The size uses the absolute maximum possible space available on the P1, X1 and A1. It's a perfect size for her mirror from a 2013 Jetta. It will probably work for most mid sized and smaller sedans, but I'd definitely measure them first if I were you. The inside dimensions are 280mm wide and 230mm long.

NOTE: I PRINTED THIS ON A SUPERTACK PLATE. If you do not have excellent adhesion, PLEASE SLOW THE PRINT DOWN AS IT GETS TO MAX HEIGHT!

Hardware Used:

• M5 x 30mm socket head bolt.
• M5 Nut

Alternatively

• M4x30mm + Washer
• M4 Nut (Will be loose in the hole, but should still work fine)

Insert the nut into the tool body. There is a rectangular hole with just enough space to press the nut in. It may take a bit of force. You could probably get away with an M4 and a washer as well.

If at all curious, I made the decision to design the screw to be inserted from the handle side to minimize the external pressure from hardware on the exterior of the tool body. Since this is printed upright, there's a good chance that too much pressure could snap the body, so I designed it in a way that the only tension exerted on the tool body comes from the strongest point, surrounded by infill in the center/bottom of the U-shape. I understand that it's annoying to find a tool that can reach all the way in. I widened the holes in the handle to make room if that helps at all.
