Printable dust/weather caps for Ray Wu LED connectors - with and without captive straps.

Printing

  • Print caps in a temperature resistant filament such as PETG, and/or a UV-stabilized filament with 6 walls.
  • Print straps in TPU if you print the captive versions.
  • Note: the TPU straps can only be fit onto the cables before splicing pigtails onto existing wiring. The straps will not readily stretch far enough to slide over existing connectors.

Usage

  • The female side cap comes in both a captive strap version, as well as a non-captive version to simplify installation at the end of the chain.
  • The male side cap only comes in a captive version (though it can be non-captive by simply not printing the strap) as the only reason for the start of your LEDs to not be connected is usually when you are storing something.
  • These caps keep dust, debris, and most (but not all) water out. If you are concerned with corrosion under immersion/soaking conditions the use of dielectric grease on the metal contacts is recommended.

I loved the design but when they printed they were about 1mm too small.

That's very strange, I've printed dozens of them for separate installs from separate vendors on Aliexpress. Could you link to where you got the device/connector? Also, just to sanity check, you're 100% sure they're Ray Wu fittings and not like xConnect or some similar one?

I'll print another, and try again. I use XConnect and Rays so maybe I mixed them up. I'll let you know.

I printed another that I downloaded fresh from Maker World into Bambu. And it still printed to small. I printed another Ray Wu end cap right after and it works. Hope this helps.
