Description
I present to you my 10" Rack - Jogi's 10" Cube
Based on the 10" standard
Should be universally suitable for 10" devices
Special feature of my design:
10" in all directions: assembled as a normal 10" rack housing, front insertion. 10" side insertion or mixed
Cube rotated, top is bottom, top is side, side is front - position the cube as you wish
10" fits in height, width, and depth!
5U in height, in depth, in width!
M6 screws with suitable grid spacing on all sides (except on the bevels)
Extremely simple assembly:
10" post parts for all sides = print 8x
Cross connectors with bevel = print 4x
If needed, 4x the device feet
Screw together
Done!
Alternatively, 4U connectors are included, which slightly reduces the depth by 1U
The 4U supports can of course also be used in height, making the housing somewhat flatter
And 3U are also available, of course
This allows, for example, housings with 5U width (10"), 5U depth (10"), and 3U height
With optional connectors, other sizes are also possible, e.g., 8U, 10U, etc
Overall dimensions (L/W/H) for 10" x 10" x 10" are approx 30cm each (+device feet 2cm)
The 3U version is 21cm high (+device feet)
Mounting width for 10" parts 254mm
Distance hole to hole: 235mm (10" standard dimension)
Distance between the 3 holes vertically: 15.88mm
Distance from the outer hole to the edge: 6.35mm
Open area inside: 222.4mm
Suitable for mounting with M6 screws (10" standard mounting screws)
For the housing in 10mm length 16 pieces M6x10 + 4x for the feet
For attachments as needed
The hole pattern is in M6
I originally wanted to work with heat-set inserts, but that would be 240 pieces!
Therefore, everything is printed with M6 threads
I recommend re-tapping all threads with an M6 tap (it's quite fast with a cordless drill)
Carefully screwing in an M6 screw also works, but it's tedious. 3D prints are usually a bit rough
The parts can break apart if forced when screwing in
A tap is cheap and definitely worth it!
After using a tap, the threads are perfect and assembly is very easy
Nevertheless, a note: It's plastic: Tighten only hand-tight, not with force!

Attachments (device carriers) are currently being optimized and will be released gradually
Alternative parts should also fit - 10" is a standard dimension!

My 10" cube is fully modular and flexible
A network switch from the side? A mini PC from the front? The Raspberry from the other side?
As long as the devices are at different heights, or do not overlap in depth, no problem

A word on the print profile:
I recommend 3 perimeters (or more) so that the threads have enough material!
During testing with 1 perimeter, the threads broke out when screwing in. With 3 perimeters, it holds perfectly
Also pay attention to the 25% infill/perimeter overlap!
Use a sturdy infill pattern
With the default settings, it prints perfectly on my X1Carbon
For the 5U cover panel (included with the cover grilles in the download), the print bed is 100% filled :-)
Update 5.8.25: New photo inserted:
With 2x 5U side posts stacked and my additional connectors (link see above), I built a 10U housing
Works perfectly: 10" width, 10U height, plenty of space!
7.8.2025:
I have now finished my 3rd rack
This time with 10U = 2 rack posts including rack connectors - see last photo
New accessory: Rack drawers for 10" racks!
