2 Gang Recessed Low Voltage Retrofit Box

Honest to goodness could not find a commercial version of this available anywhere, otherwise I probably never would have created it. Here was my requirement:

• Recessed
• Dual Gang
• Both ports dedicated to low voltage applications

That's it. I had no other requirements. It simply doesn't exist. There's some commercially available stuff that wants you to install an electrical box along with a low voltage box.

Other added perks since we were making this from scratch:

• Retrofit tabs drywall installation
• Uses the original faceplates your stuff comes with

While it is low voltage, for added strength, I printed mine out of PETG. I felt better about screwing into PETG since it'll eat screws better than a more brittle material like PLA.

I really recommend the “Special Support” version; This utilizes “support material for PLA / PETG” as the connecting piece to the part supports. Standard tree support is going to be a royal PITA to remove, because the entire unit is floating in order to give it the extra lip:

Even if you only have PLA to use as your PETG support connector, its good enough and well worth it:

Just remember to tighten up your interface spacing if you're using the special supports; It likes it with no tolerances. (And bump up your flushing volumes so it can poop 3x more than normal between the 10 filament changes – you don't want PLA and PETG mixing in the nozzle or it gets WEAK).

Now go hook up whatever the heck you need. Low voltage boxes are the best. :D
