Description

I got tired of holding the trunk open with one hand while getting stuff in/out with the other.  This is a quick print to solve that.  The cord loops over the trunk finger latch to hold it open.  No parts flailing in the wind while you drive around.

Printed parts on the side with support.  They don't look as pretty, but hopefully they will be sturdier.  Used PLA since that was already loaded in the printer.  If this part breaks down in the sun, chances the shock cord is spent as well.  It's another $0.11 to print a new set.

In addition to the printed parts, you'll need

  • (2) M8x25 screws.  These screw into the screw holes the Golf Bag holder uses.
  • 13 in of shock cord.  I used a 4mm piece I had in the garage.

My D5 Ranger arrives later today. I was wondering about how to hold that Trunk Lid open. Thank you for this.

You're welcome. Me and my neighbor were trying to figure out some elegant way of doing it. Attaching magnets or what not. I was also thinking of something that would clip to the lid, but then would hang loose. His wife said she just needed something to loop around it to hold it open. This simple method meant it was cheap, easy to install, and doesn't bang around while driving down the road.

Replying to @Big_Duke31 :
Using it and love it. BUT I hate how the bungee is just tied in a knot to keep it in the Holder. There must be some way to capture the end of the bungee in a way that is not so ugly. But I don't know what that is. Hoping you might have some ideas. Maybe you should ask your friends wife. ;-)
