Description

If gears are stuck, it might be caused by stringing or seam alignment(use random seam for best results), which can leave a ridge that causes jams.
To ensure smoother operation, perform post-processing such as sanding down the shafts and lubricating them if needed.

Indroduction

This is a fully 3D-printable hand fan powered by a crank mechanism. By repeatedly squeezing the handle, a connecting rod transforms linear motion into rotary motion, spinning the propeller at the front. The propeller securely mounts onto the shaft using a locking feature combined with a ball snap fit, and it’s available in both clockwise (CW) and counterclockwise (CCW) variants. (i recommend printing CW propeller) .

                                                        Everything is 3D-Printed

The model is divided into individual parts that are optimized for easy printing with minimum supports. All components are designed for snap-fit , press-fit assembly or screw in place, and glue is optional for added strength. Every connection type—whether snap-fit, press-fit, or screw—is clearly indicated in the Assembly of the included instructions.

Recommended print and matterial settings:

Material: PETG,ABS (PLA can be used also but i dont reccomend it )

Infill and wall count  :

  •   Gears: 20-30% infill , 2 walls (Gear 4 needs support)
  •   Cases: 30-40% infill, 2-4walls (mine worked best at 4 walls) Upper case needs supports    in screw conpartment
  •   Press Fit Shaft : 100% infill
  •   Propeller : 100% , infill Supports ON (Can be printed without supports also)
  •   Other 20-30% infill
  •   Use random seam for best results on the shafts

Layer height: 0.2 mm

Lubrication : I recommend lubricate the gears and shaft for smoother , quieter and longer operation , you can use vaseline , silicone oil, … (i tried it without lubrication and it worked  )

Print orientation is optimized for minimal post-processing.

                                                              This is working principle:

It will not stay spinning with squeezing the handle. It stops and/or goes in the opposite direction if you time it just a split second wrong and eventually something will break because of the sudden changes
