Description
Amico Boxer is my small contribution to the world of articulated characters. The idea was born partly for fun, partly to practice with Fusion 360: I wanted to create articulated legs, but then my passion for BMW boxer engines took over… and this model inspired by old air-cooled engines came out.
It is not a super faithful model in detail, but it is my personal homage to the propeller brand. I believe that those who share this passion may find it appealing.
For many it will be a simple project, but for me it was a great challenge: it allowed me to experiment with new techniques and learn something new.

I printed it with a laser thickness of 0.12 mm, trying to obtain good quality especially in the most “delicate” points.
SUPPORTS
WARNING IT IS NECESSARY TO ACTIVATE THE SUPPORTS FOR THE PLATE CONTAINING THE CYLINDERS, FOR THE OTHERS IT IS NOT NECESSARY

To simplify printing (and save supports), I separated the cylinders with the cooling fins from the engine block. A bit of a “rough” effect in the hidden points is acceptable; the supports were necessary.
The exhaust manifolds are also printable separately, so everyone can choose their preferred color, and the detail improves.
The same applies to the BMW lettering on the side of the engine: I designed it separately, so if you want you can print it in a second color. I simply inserted a pause during printing to change the filament. If you are not interested, simply remove the pause from the slicer. Note that there is a left and a right inscription, but it will be clear when you place them in their position before adding the glue.
The oil sump base with articulated legs is separate from the rest but fits perfectly, thanks to small internal machining that aligns with the engine crankcase. You can choose whether to glue it or leave it mobile.
Ah, an important thing: if the cylinders do not seem perfectly aligned… don’t worry, it’s not a mistake. That’s how boxer engines are made!
Printing and assemblyThe project is divided into multiple printing plates, which include:
* Engine block
* Oil sump with joints
* Cylinders and exhaust manifolds
* Separate “BMW” lettering for a possible dual color

I did several tests before arriving at a version that satisfied me, so I hope you have fun assembling it as much as I had fun designing it.
