Description

Suspension-Equipped Wheeled Chassis with Modular Brick-Style Interface

This custom 3D-printed chassis combines a spring-loaded suspension and four smooth-rolling wheels, all driven by a pair of elastic bands that deliver just the right amount of bounce and damping.
The top platform is studded in a universal “interlocking building brick” pattern, allowing you to securely clip on any compatible brick-style car body or decorative elements. Alternatively, you can swap to the 3D-printed model attached in the file.
Thanks to the versatile studded surface and elastic-band suspension, you get both reliable handling and endless customization possibilities.

If you choose to build your own brick-style car, please share a photo of your model.

All wheel axles are made from short segments of filament .
if the filament axis slide back out of the wheel hub, gently heat the tip of a flat-head screwdriver and press it against the end of the filament to melt and flare it slightly for a secure fit, or alternatively apply a tiny drop of fast-setting super glue.

Awesome model, I used iron nails and hair bands for the moving parts. Also customized the wing to include the names of the kids I'm gifting them to.

one suggestion, the windows aren't clearly outspoken. maybe do a little indent to show where the windows are.

This is a great model, and the suspension is nicely done. I used cocktail sticks for the joints. The other mirror didn’t last long, but it doesn’t take away from the fun 😀 Thank you so much!

this thing is fantastic I had to print one for my other boy asap and he’s loving building his own. very easy to assemble, I used the rubber bands from the makers kit and doubled up per axle, works great. thanks for this awesome design, not my first print of yours, won’t be my last.

I'm having trouble with the studded top assembly, i'd like to add some studs on the side too, did you create it with a mesh I could use? or find a parametric brick plate generator?

Sweet print. Nothing was mentioned about how to set up the suspension. I ended up using rivets and cut the head off. They fitting perfectly and snug. The idea of the suspension is clever because it relies on the rubber bands not the material. Other suspension using the PLA for e.g. wear out over time and break. Also the shell comes off easy so will need to use a bit of glue but not too much as the whole idea of the design is to be able to change the top. Very cool design and I have loved building it. Plan on making a few for some little friends I have. :)

Thank you very much, I’m glad you like the model. The axes are supposed to be made from pieces of 1.75 mm filament, but your solution is cool too

Oh yes, I re read the original post and missed that the first time through. I'm building another one using different colors and will try using filament instead.
