Description

Friend wanted a tool to help open her HydroJug, I took some measurements and designed this in SolidWorks.

Another friend tested on a Stanley and it works,

I did horizontal and vertical print testing and the only failure I had was with Vertical and PLA.

I placed all test subjects in boiling water for 30 seconds, only PLA deformed

I placed all test subject, except the failed PLA, in the top rack of my dishwasher. No noticeable change post dishwash.

My app won't let me Rate this for some reason, this is absolutely a 5 Star print file and I will figure out a way to rate it. However, I have received several requests for one of these tools, do you have a commercial license set up or something similar that I can purchase from you so I can sell them? I have also been told to contact Hydrojug to sell them in their store, and I keep telling people that it isn't my design, I just printed the file. 😅

printed for a coworker who received the hydro jug as a gift, and never had the hand strength to open it, so they would bring it to me to open it all the time while at work. I eventually mentioned an opener, to which they replied they didn't want to spend $16 on the opener, and I went home, found this file and printed them a couple. they now have one on their keychain so they can always open their bottle, and love how well it works. I printed it with very heavy infil as I was worried about the sturdiness of it, but I over did it as this thing now seems indestructible, but at least it'll last my coworker a long time

Awesome glad this could help! I tested the model with the infill setting in the print profile on a vice and couldn't break it, so I'd imagine yours is even stronger!

This is amazing, I love my HydroJug and was SO frustrated with how hard it is to open, this works PERFECTLY. I'm impressed with how snug it fits and kudos for the level of testing you did! I hope you are aware you could easily sell these. 🥰 Thank you for sharing your hard work!

works great! I worry about stress concentration at the boss with no fillet across a single z layer. but I trust the data, and love the effort put into testing!
