Description
The Schneider CA1 tank mounted a 75mm field gun, two 8mm machine guns, combattotal weight 14 tons, six crew members, speed5 km/h. France's first self-developed tank for combat, evolved from an American agricultural tractor. A 75mm low-velocity, short-barreled cannon was mounted in a turret on the right side of the tank, with extremely limited firing arc. Approximately 400 were produced. In September 1916, the first production Schneider tank was delivered to the French army. This tank had a six-man crew and was equipped with a 75mm field gun and two machine guns.
