A breadboard-style, Gridfinity-compatible component holder/storage
- The hole sizes and spacing are compatible with breadboard standards.
- It securely holds pins and allows easy detachment.
- Resistors, diodes, transistors, and capacitors are loosen due to varying lead diameters.
- 2×2, 3x2, 3x3, and 4x4 Gridfinity compatible - more sizes coming soon!
The design
I needed something to hold, organize, store, or transport my electronic parts. The idea I came up with was to plug them into a board that could securely hold the pins while allowing easy detachment.
There are two existing options: polystyrene foam and breadboards. However, both have clear disadvantages. I don’t have much polystyrene foam, and the pieces I do have aren’t the right size. Breadboards grip the parts too tightly and are too expensive for this purpose.
So, I designed a custom base board. The linked (or widened) holes—compared to those in a standard breadboard—make it suitable for 3D printing. The hole size and shape have been fine-tuned to hold the parts just right.
After publishing the basic board design, people suggested Gridfinity-compatible formats and dimensions, which led to the development of this model.
