Description

Hello everyone, was fortunate enough to grab an ac 110 for a good price, and in my spare time I created a media basket that replaces the original mesh screens. Researching online, I wasn't able to find anything resembling a basket. The closest thing to it was this thread, but that required drilling and cutting of your filter. Regarding the design, I added guides for baffles at multiple locations for customization. I printed it white on the inside for maximum light reflection, and black on the outside to block said light from leaking as much as possible. For the cover, I added small slits on the sides to route wires through. Although I will admit I have not tested the light leakage, as I have neither cheato nor a suitable light source on hand, however I designed it for those small submersible grow lamps. I've seen many refugium mods for these AquaClears but I wanted to avoid making any permanent changes to my filter.

Note: This is for the NEW model of AquaClear 110, and I'm not sure if this basket would fit the older model. I tried making it a tight squeeze as it is but if someone has both I would be delighted to know. Some other nuances, it may be difficult to remove once installed. I did not glue the left most wall in order to be able to detach it and pull the whole basket out. Without that, the basket has little wiggle room and wants to stay in place held by the pumpside slot. If I make future iterations I will solve this issue, for now though, I'll leave it be as my solution has proven effective. When gluing make sure every piece is on its correct side. I used a mixture of superglue as a first layer and aquarium silicon for the finish. Please let me know if you use this design and any improvements I could add.

The pieces fit together like a puzzle piece for easy gluing.

I need a solid color version, please. So difficult to make one color. Thanks :-)
