Description

Reusable Printable O-Ring for Espresso Machines (Saeco/Philips & Others) – 40x32x4mm

YouTube Shorts preview fix: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/pkK-f25yxV8

I designed this 40x32x4 mm O-ring for Saeco and Philips espresso machines (like the Series 1200 EP1220, 2200, 3200, and others that use this size). It’s super easy to 3D print in TPU as a cheap, quick replacement for the original silicone gasket.

Why I made it:
Honestly, original silicone O-rings aren’t crazy expensive, but:

  1. You need to order them and wait.
  2. They’ll still wear out over time anyway.
  3. TPU handles the brewing temps of most machines just fine (usually around 90–98°C), so for casual home use, it works great.

If it starts leaking after a few months, no big deal — just print another one! It’s still way cheaper overall.

⚠️ Important:
This isn’t necessarily a forever replacement for food-grade silicone — TPU generally holds up to about 100–110°C — but for personal, home use, it’s totally fine in most cases.
I made this mostly as a fast, reusable solution without the hassle.

‼️ Pro Tip:
Don’t forget to apply food-safe silicone grease to the O-ring before installing it! This helps with sealing, prevents wear, and makes it easier to remove later.
(You can find this type of grease in stores — it’s safe for kitchen appliances and espresso machines.)

Printing Tips:

  • Material: TPU (95A or softer works best for a good seal). I found out my generic TPU from Temu prints softer at 190c than at 220c for example.
  • Infill: 100% (solid, for proper sealing).
  • Print slowly for good layer adhesion and flexibility.
  • Note: Depending on your TPU type and brand, print settings might vary. Make sure to fine-tune your printer for best results.

And hey, if you ever want a permanent, long-term fix, you can always swap back to a silicone or Viton O-ring later, but to be honest, as far as I saw the endurance of this TPU filament, it might hold up a lot more than the original silicone o-ring…
