Toyota Tacoma Gen 4 4runner Door organizer/holster

Note: I have NOT tried this in a gen 6 4Runner, but it looks like the front doors are molded the same, so this SHOULD work. Someone please let me know for sure!

I bought a new 2005 Toyota Tacoma, and was a little disappointed in the small console. However, the doors have a lot of storage, as long as the storage looks like water bottles. Three per door times four doors equals twelve water bottles. I suppose that's great if you want to trek through the desert (and I know some Tacoma owners do that- just not me)

I wanted a way to store a few things easily and securely, without rattling, so I made an insert that fits securely into the door. I set this particular one up to hold a can of pepper spray and a flashlight right where I can reach them. You'll have to flex the lip of the door a little to get this in, but once it's in, it's secure and doesn't exert constant pressure on the door, so it won't crack over time. It looks weird when you print it, but in the door it looks like it belongs there. I angled the flashlight outward by 10 degrees so it's easier to insert and withdraw. The pepper spray can is short, so it doesn't require the angle.

I wouldn't use PLA in a hot truck, it will soften. PETG may be OK, but I went with black ABS and it works fine. Be sure to enable supports for the bottom, as there's a weird little foot that I added to hold everything in place just right.

I am including the Freecad file so you can make your own custom cutouts. There are two datum planes on the top- one at 0 degrees and one at 10 degrees, and the 10 degree plane is for the tilted hole. Just make a sketch on the plane that you want to use, and use the pocket tool to make the hole. Set the depth- make sure it doesn't come through the bottom, and you're good to go!
