12V Power Supply Unit for Field and Bench Use
Print Profile(1)

Description
I designed this 12V regulated power supply case using off-the-shelf components.
It provides 6x 12V outputs (three individual circuits) for powering my astrophotography gear but can be used for general electronics projects.
⚡ Power Setup
- Regulated PSU (12V 30A)

Wiring the high voltage circuit follows standard color convention:
- Black → Line (L)
- White → Neutral (N)
- Green → Ground (⏚)
Wiring ther low voltage circuits follows standard color convention:
- Black → Negative (-) [long pin on the barrel connector]
- White → Positive (+) [short pin on the barrel connector]]
🧱 Enclosure & Mounting
- Designed in Fusion 360 and printed in PLA + PETG
- Ventilation on the top, bottom, and sides for passive cooling (the PSU has a FAN on the top aligned to the top circular vents in the design)
- The PSU is mounted to the rear internal plate using 4 M4 screws on the sides
- The plate with mounted PSU then slides into the enclosure and is secured by:
- 4 M4 screws on the bottom
- 4 M4 screws on the face (2 at the top/bottom and 2 on face plate sides)
The front faceplate holds:
- 6 panel-mounted output jacks
- Secured with 2 M4 screws on the sides
🔌 Electronics
- Simple wiring: each jack is soldered to the PSU output terminals
- Short pin = positive, long shell = ground
- The PSU provides three pairs of V+ and V-, each pair wired to two jacks
- Includes a voltage adjustment screw if precise 12V is needed
- Built-in fan activates above 45°C, though it's never been triggered during astrophotography use — passive ventilation has been sufficient so far
Clean, functional, and easy to service or expand. Let me know if you’d like the STL files or wiring layout.
