If you've found this model useful a review once printed, or a boost would be greatly appreciated and support my future designs. Thank you!

A strong, simple and easy to install stopper for tilt-turn windows. Simply install the stopper at the top of the window using the closed window as your guide for the lower edge of the stopper to set the height, and a small strip of double sided sticky tape on the base for adhesion (keeps things renter-friendly and there is no chance of damaging the frame/glass with screws).

Once installed, opening the window in tilt mode will allow the stopper to drop into place holding the window open, to close the window you just need to gently push the thumb lever on the stopper up slightly to disengage the catch - leaving the stopper in place for next time. The stopper is not designed to hold the window open in turn mode (but the window will open easily) and just like in tilt mode gently lifting the stopper as you close the window allows it to shut.

I have 7 of these stoppers distributed around my apartment windows and have found they very effectively stop opposing windows slamming closed even in windy Scotland. Additionally, being located in the top centre of the window means the force is distributed with less tendency to warp the frame/mechanism when compared with side-mounted stoppers and takes advantage of the decreased leverage being located at the furthest point from the hinge/fulcrum.

Two caveats of note with this design:

  • Firstly, you need to be able to reach the top of the window to disengage the stopper so please consider if you are able to do so; please also consider if you have any window treatments that may be obstructed by this design as it protrudes from the window (only a small amount beyond the window in the open tilt position) and may not be appropriate for your situation.

  • Secondly, this model is designed for a 125mm opening at the top of the window - please measure your window in the open tilt position and adjust the tool on Plate 2 of the print profile to the required size for your model of window, and then copy that scaling factor across to Plate 1. This will generate a custom size to appropriately fit your window.
