Description

I'm playing around with vapor smoothing with acetone, and i'm trying to come up with a method that's reasonably safe but also effective. ( Maybe if I figure it out i'll make a different post… :) ) To do this, I need some good practice models, so I remixed this Mother's day statue/art to include hidden holes to use as posts.

As shown in the pictures, I use M4 sized screws to hold up the model off a platform in an acetone vapor chamber and prevent ugly artifacts where the model touches the platform. I also changed the base to have a gentle chamfer and fillet to it.

Since this remix is an old-school mesh style remix in Fusion360 , I only have a 3MF to provide instead of a STEP or other fancy CAD file.

Still haven't fully solved issues related to my acetone chamber and dripping.. but this model itself works great in Prusament Galaxy Black ASA, as shown. Hope this is useful to others.

Does this fike work for PLA too? I would like to have a smoother print but only got PLA available.

The print will work fine, but unfortunately the smoothing technique is specific to ABS and ASA because of the solubility with acetone
