Simple Air Conditioner Knob

Bill of Materials
Description
We are currently having a heat wave and some elderly neighbors of ours broke their AC knob and couldn't turn it on without messing with pliers and stuff. I whipped up a replacement that is simple and quick to print. I'm posting it in case maybe it will help someone else too. I didn't really design it for aesthetics since this is an old unit anyway, I just wanted something that didn't take a long time or have a bunch of supports like most of the other ones I saw on this site. I designed it for a “Goldstar” brand AC unit. I don't know how similar these are between brands, but this one provides a tight fit that won't easily come off once pressed on. The shaft diameter is 6mm and the outer diameter of the plastic piece was 12mm. I wasn't sure where the tick would be, so I just installed the knob turned it to the far end of the range and put a black tick there with a sharpie. Not pretty, but it works. I can't guarantee it will work on all units, but I bet a lot of them are pretty close in size. If you try it on a different unit or appliance and it works, please let the others know in the comments!
