"SEA THAT UNITES US": Bordalo II's "Amonite" is being installed in Figueira da Foz

"Sea that unites us" is a project resulting from the application of three municipalities (Figueira da Foz, Cantanhede, and Mira), budgeted at approximately 300,000 euros, for the 2021 Networked Cultural Programming, approved by the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Center (CCDRC) and 100% funded.

It is a cultural project focused on the sea, carried out simultaneously in the three municipalities, directed by André Varandas. It aims to integrate, empower, and revitalize cultural and artistic agents from the territories of the three municipalities, which undoubtedly constitute one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic situation.

The Networked Programming "The Sea that Unites Us" includes 120 local associations and artists, with 208 events, some already presented during the summer season.

In addition to summer entertainment, the project, which does not neglect ecological concerns, includes the installation of a work by Bordalo II – the ecological artist – in each of the three municipalities.

In Cantanhede, the "Belemnite" was installed on Tocha Beach, in the CIAX building – the Xávega Art Interpretation Center. In Mira, "O Borralho", and in Figueira da Foz, work is underway to install an "Amonite", an extinct group of mollusks that existed thousands of years ago in the Cabo Mondego area.
