Neil deGrasse Tyson (born October 5, 1958) is an American astrophysicist, author, and dynamic science communicator whose childhood fascination with the stars in New York City propelled him to earn a physics degree at Harvard and a PhD in astrophysics from Columbia. His research on the structure and evolution of the Milky Way and stellar formation has informed both academia and public outreach. As director of New York’s Hayden Planetarium, Tyson has advised NASA missions, championed the reclassification of Pluto, and inspired millions through best-selling books and the hit series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, bridging rigorous science with captivating storytelling.
