Description

Say goodbye to maggots in your organic waste bin with this simple and effective Maggot Defense holder!

Tired of lifting the lid of your bio-bin in the summer and finding it full of flies and maggots? This two-part printable device uses the natural repellent power of tea tree oil to keep pests away, ensuring your bin stays clean and odor-free.

The design features a base that holds a scented cotton pad and a vented lid that allows the aroma to circulate within the bin. The honeycomb pattern is not only stylish but also functional, providing optimal airflow.

The V2 Hanger is available here:

Recommended Material: PETG is highly recommended for its durability and resistance to heat, especially since the bin might be sitting in the sun.

Instructions for Use:

  1. Attach the Base: Securely glue the base to the inside of your bio-bin lid.
  2. Insert Cotton Pad: Place a standard cotton makeup pad inside the base.
  3. Add Tea Tree Oil: Add 4 to 6 drops of tea tree oil onto the pad.
  4. Attach the Lid: Snap the vented lid onto the base.
  5. Maintain: For best results, refresh the tea tree oil every 2 to 3 weeks.

Download the Maggot Defense now and enjoy a cleaner, maggot-free summer!

I've also printed the model with supports. This is also saved in the print profile, but the supports are very easy to remove. Thank you for Boost 🚀and upload a photo📸

It worked wonderfully No more maggots even though the bin was in the sun However after the first emptying of the bin the lid and the cotton wool had already disappeared in the garbage truck Perhaps there is a version with threads or sturdier hooks

Hello. Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, the sun causes the closure to become somewhat loose. I will upload another version where the closure fits more snugly and the lid should no longer fall off. I will inform you as soon as the version is online. Best regards

The worst print or idea in years The tea tree oil attracted even more flies And the lid fell off after a very short time I would best give it 0 stars

Printed great. I printed four of themj in PETG (one for my green bin, and three more for my trash bins). Purchased some cotton pads and tea tree oil. Now to see if the maggots stay away! Great idea. Nice design.

Just wondering if you’ve have any success keeping them away a few weeks on?

Definite improvement. Green bin had maggots in it this week but it has been very hot and humid the last few weeks. Garbage cans doing fine. I have been using tea tree oil. When I run out, I may try peppermint oil.

I have downloaded. I will try this out. If it works, I will boost you multiple times. I am fighting a war with Houseflies in my compost and was on the verge of giving up.

We're having the same problem with our organic waste bin. I read online that tea tree oil is supposed to keep flies away, which gave me the idea for this model. You should definitely clean the bin beforehand to get rid of any maggots. Our bin is in a warm area. I immediately put three of them in, and a lot more tea tree oil too! 😂😂😂 Thanks for your support! 👍 I hope you only have positive things to report! 👍
