Boost Me (for free)
Thanks for your support, if you like this design and want to see more like it, give me a boost. It usually takes hours/days to make these designs and multiple prints to get something I am proud to share. Your support means a lot!
This was a lot of fun to put together and taught me a lot of new 3d design techniques. I previously shared a dragon/wyvern fountain and the response was really tremendous. Consequently, I decided to design this sea serpent, and I have a few more ideas that I am starting to work on as well. I really hope you enjoy these designs and they can add something to your ponds (or whatever). For what it's worth, I am also considering making a version that while hook directly up to a hose.
Technical Stuff:
- I would highly recommend printing in PETG so that it can withstand the elements and the constant water pressure.
- In an early print, I tried printing it in Silk PLA to be extra fancy, and I would not recommend it (the pipe connection broke fairly easily)
- There is more support required here than I would like. I printed this 4 times before I got one that worked consistently and I could recommend. But you will be removing an annoying amount of support material. If you change the support settings I would recommend not doing the “tree” supports, every time I did this I lost the jaw. I would also be careful about changes in settings that create support structure internally where the water piping should be open. I would recommend having a few tools handy during this process.
- Prints with a female ½ PVC pipe adapter so you can screw it in easily to your system
- I printed it in a PETG Gray color and then gave it a quick blast with a white and black spray paint to give it more of a stone look. I also gave it a coat of UV varnish.
- It is printed with the internal “piping” in place
- This fountain has winder internal piping than my Dragon one, which may be preferable if you have more water pressure.
- The pump I am using is the Tetra Pond Pump which pushes up to 500 gallons per hour
- Ideal for aerating your pond and/or removing algae (I also built and designed a 3d printed pond filter if anyone cares or is interested)
- If you are a pond guy, I have released an early version of 3d printed liner rocks to create a more natureal pond experience, you can find those here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1524564-maccourt-pond-liner-natural-rock-edge-yard-fish#profileId-1598009

It is a work in progress, but I hope to provide more information about my models, and some tips if you want to create your own.
