EDIT: I have upload a stand that uses 4 addtional magnets (10mmx2mm Round) so you can display is with the magnetic feature. Of course I had to add the Goldeneye logo too it but you can cut it off if you wish for a plain stand.
Recreate the legendary remote mine from GoldenEye 007 with this fully functional, Arduino-powered prop. Designed to house electronics and a 9V battery, this model lights up and beeps in the same pattern seen in the N64 game — perfect for display, cosplay, or just sticking to your fridge and smiling.
🛠 Features:
- 6x 5mm pre-wired red LEDs with built-in resistors (recommended)
- SPDT locking push switch to arm the device (just like in-game)
- Designed for Arduino Nano
- Optional passive 5V piezo buzzer support
- Base holds 12x 10mm magnets for surface mounting
- Powered by a 9V battery, secured by the screw-together top shell using M3 10–20mm bolts
🖨️ Printing Recommendations:
- 0.2mm layer height
- Normal Snug supports required for Top Remote, you can orientate another way for less supports but its not that great also adjust your support z offets if yusing cheap or PLA+, it will be very hard to remove
- I use Varible Layer Height to smooth out the stepping on the Top and Bottom
💻 Flashing the Arduino Nano
- Download the Arduino sketch from GitHub (https://github.com/ASTDrones/Goldeneye-Remote-Mine).
- Open the sketch in the Arduino IDE.
- Under Tools > Board, select Arduino Nano.
- Choose the correct port.
- Click Upload to flash the code.
- After flashing, the Nano will automatically run the blink/beep cycle on power-up.
🔧 Assembly Instructions
📍 Orientation Note (Important!)
Before starting, make sure the mine is oriented correctly:
✅ The battery slot should be at the top, and the LEDs are mounted vertically along the left and right sides of the mine.
- Left side (top to bottom): LED 1, 2, 3
- Right side (top to bottom): LED 4, 5, 6
This orientation ensures that the wiring order matches the code and pinout correctly.
1. LED Installation
- Use pre-wired 5mm red LEDs with built-in resistors.
- Insert LEDs into the LED holders, then push the holders into the Top Shell.
- Secure with glue if needed.
2. Push Button
- Install the SPDT locking switch into the center hole.
- Glue or friction-fit it into place.
3. Wiring the LEDs
- Solder the LED positive wires to the following Nano pins:
Purpose Component Connects To Nano Pin LED 3 (+) Bottom-left LED D3 LED 2 (+) Middle-left LED D4 LED 1 (+) Top-left LED D5 LED 4 (+) Top-right LED D6 LED 5 (+) Middle-right LED D7 LED 6 (+) Bottom-right LED D8 Buzzer (+) Buzzer D9 - Then, twist all LED negative (ground) wires together,
AND twist in the black/negative wire from the 9V battery snap. - Solder the entire twisted bundle to one of the Nano’s GND pins.
This ensures both the LEDs and the battery share a common ground.
4. Power Setup
- Connect the positive wire to one terminal of the push switch.
- Connect the other terminal of the switch to Nano VIN.
This setup powers the Nano when the red button is locked into the ON position.
5. Mounting & Electronics
- Use VHB tape or similar to secure the Nano inside.
- Solder the buzzer (if using):
- + to D9 Pin, – to GND
- Place the 9V battery inside the bottom shell.
6. Final Assembly
- Screw the Top and Bottom Shells together using M3 bolts (10–20mm).
- Glue magnets into the base cavities — 2 magnets per hole is sufficient, though the example shown uses 3 per hole for extra grip.
