Description
I created this mounting system (WIP) for miscellaneous usage.
Mounting Plate:
- The mounting plate is 2U high and has 3mm holes for BT3/M3 screws.
- Strong and shouldn't normally flex too much.
- Standard 10" rack dimensions, so should fit on any 10" rack system.
Pi5 Geekworm X1004 Caddy:
- Perfect fit, use M2.5 screws to mount Pi5 and a couple of standoffs.
- Watch out for the screw head sticking out (will fix eventually, but is generally not a problem).
Pi4 PiKVM Caddy:
- Designed for Pi4 + Waveshare HDMI-CSI + USB C breakout.
- Uses BT3, BT2.5 screws.
- Uses USB C breakouts for HID and Power.
- Check out the image for wiring.
(Bonus) 1U Shelf for Cudy 2.5G Switch and M5Stack Mini DIN Meter:
- Use M3 screws to secure the switch to the shelf.
- DIN Meter can be simply snap-fit using the orange mounting ring it comes with.
Printing Notes:
- Print all caddies facing down, supports not necessary.
- You can use 0.28mm layers since we don't see anything but the bottom face.
- Specifically for the mounting plate, having 4+ perimeters is good. 30% gyroid infill is ample.
- If you have multi-material printer/AMS you can optionally paint the PiKVM logo.
- If you don't have self-threading BT screws, use M2.5/3 screws with nuts on the other side. Also most screws are resisting orthogonal force so even if the M3 screw isn't super tight you won't have much issues.
I use 90deg USB C connectors to ensure the cables don't extend past 2U limits, but it may be necessary to leave a few cm space below.
Since this is a work in progress you may want to change some hole position or front plate size, hence I've included the f360 file.
