Description

This 3D printed mod for the Estes scale SpaceX Falcon 9 model rocket allows you to convert the original nosecone to a small payload bay! This model is specifically for housing the Jolly Logic Altimeter 2 in the nosecone to track flight data.

Assembly Instructions:

Start by drilling eight small holes where the SuperDraco thrusters would be. I used a 1/16" bit. This allows the altimeter to accurately measure the changing air pressure throughout the flight.

Next, carefully cut off the bottom face of the original nosecone. I used a utility knife, but a rotary tool would be easier.

Sand any rough edges from the cut.

Then, glue the flat sides of the loop piece and the screw piece together.

Apply glue to the knurled area on the receiving end of the print, and twist into place inside the nosecone. This should be a pretty tight fit. I used E6000 as it allows some time to adjust everything to make sure it's straight before it hardens.

Once the glue dries, tie the shock cord to the base (I already had a white one from a previous version), add your altimeter, screw it tight, and you're ready to fly!
